BACK THE RANGERS
PROTECT THE TURTLES
BUILD THEIR FUTURE
Help fund two years of community-led sea turtle conservation in Kilifi, Kenya—and launch an eco-tourism enterprise designed to create a sustainable future for the people protecting this coastline.
24 MONTHS. LOCAL RANGERS. ONE MISSION: MAKE CONSERVATION SUSTAINABLE.
WHY THIS WORK MATTERS
SEA TURTLES
ARE STILL
FIGHTING TO SURVIVE.
Along Kenya’s coastline, sea turtles face threats at every stage of their lives. Poaching, accidental capture in fishing gear, plastic pollution and the loss of safe nesting habitat continue to put these ancient marine species at risk.
In Kilifi, our Turtle Rangers are on the frontline. They patrol nesting beaches, protect vulnerable nests, monitor hatchlings and respond when turtles are found injured or dead.
But conservation cannot depend on short-term funding forever. To protect turtles for generations to come, we need to build a model where the people safeguarding them can also build secure livelihoods from a healthy, living ocean.

A female green turtle found dead on the Kilifi coastline. Fishing-gear entanglement is suspected to have contributed to her death. Cases like this highlight the urgent need for local monitoring, reporting and protection.
Protecting turtles means protecting more than nests.
It means investing in the people who stand between these animals and the threats they face.
THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE MISSION
MEET THE TURTLE RANGERS
Our Turtle Rangers are members of the local community who have become the first line of defence for sea turtles nesting along this coastline. They patrol beaches, monitor nests, respond to threats and help protect turtles when they are at their most vulnerable.
But this programme is about more than protecting wildlife. It is about creating a future where conservation provides opportunity — and where protecting the ocean becomes more valuable than exploiting it.

LOCAL PEOPLE. LOCAL KNOWLEDGE. LASTING PROTECTION.
The long-term future of Kilifi's turtles depends on the people who share their coastline.
THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE MISSION
WHAT DOES A
TURTLE RANGER DO?
Protecting sea turtles requires eyes on the beach, night after night. Our Rangers combine local knowledge with hands-on conservation, responding wherever turtles and their nests need them most.

1. PATROL & PROTECT
Protecting sea turtles requires eyes on the beach, night after night. Our Rangers combine local knowledge with hands-on conservation, responding wherever turtles and their nests need them most.
2. RESCUE & RELOCATE
When nests are at risk from tides, erosion or human disturbance, trained Rangers carefully relocate them to safer ground and monitor them until hatching.

3. CARE FOR THE COAST
Rangers help remove waste from nesting beaches and work alongside their communities to protect the wider coastal environment turtles depend on.
PROTECTION STARTS WITH SHOWING UP
Every patrol. Every protected nest. Every hatchling given a chance.
THE CHALLENGE
CONSERVATION NEEDS MORE
THAN SHORT-TERM FUNDING
Our Turtle Rangers need reliable livelihoods, and sea turtles need consistent protection. But conservation programmes cannot depend on donations and grants forever.
Our goal is to use the next two years to protect the progress already being made while helping the Rangers build something that can generate income of their own.
WHAT IF PROTECTING THE OCEAN
COULD ALSO CREATE A LIVING?
PROTECT
Fund two years of Ranger patrols and turtle conservation.
BUILD
Launch a community-led eco-tourism business.
SUSTAIN
Create livelihoods connected to a healthy, protected ocean.
This campaign isn't just about funding the next two years. It's about changing what happens after them.
THE SOLUTION
FROM TURTLE RANGERS
TO CONSERVATION ENTREPRENEURS
Over the next two years, we want to help the Turtle Rangers develop a community-led eco-tourism enterprise built around the coastline they already know and protect.
Through guided snorkelling experiences and marine conservation activities, visitors will experience Kilifi's marine environment alongside the people working to safeguard it.
The goal is simple: create an independent source of income for the Rangers that gives local communities a direct economic stake in keeping turtles, reefs and the wider marine ecosystem alive.
01 — EXPERIENCE
COMMUNITY-LED ECO-TOURISM
Visitors discover Kilifi's coastline through locally guided marine experiences.

02 — INCOME
LIVELIHOODS LINKED TO CONSERVATION
Tourism revenue creates an alternative source of income for participating Rangers and community members.
03 — IMPACT
PROTECTION THAT CAN LAST
As the enterprise grows, conservation becomes increasingly supported by the value of a healthy marine ecosystem.
